Born June 4th 1946, Jim spent most of his childhood on the family ranch near Colbran, Co. He decided early in life that he wanted a career in agriculture and sales. Auctioneering and Real Estate seemed to fit that goal quite well. He began his career in the auction profession in 1971 and immediately started his own auction company.
Jim specialized in the management and sale of farm and ranch equipment auctions. As time went on he branched out into other areas of the auction field, but the main focus was on the agriculture industry, land and equipment. Jim has sold land and equipment for many large companies and corporate farms and for hundreds of individuals.
Professionally, Jim earned his CAI Designation in 1980. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Colorado Auctioneers Association, serving as President for two of those years.
Jim realized that the sale of farm and ranch equipment and real estate go hand in hand. In 1981, he earned his Real Estate Salesman's license and his Real Estate Broker's License in 1991.
Jim's Company is strictly in the auction and real estate business. This also includes farm and ranch equipment appraisals.
Jim works with many other auctions and real estate firms when the situation demands it to make the whole mechanism flow smoothly. He has found this to be an asset for all parties concerned. One such instance was the sale of the Keystone Condominium Complex in Keystone Co. "I was an Assistant Sales Manager/Consultant and Auctioneer, for this project." "The sale was expected to do $3.5 million and we sold it at public auction for $4.6 million." This took place in the early 1980's. Since then there have been several instances to work with other brokers and auction companies which success was achieved by all parties.
"I take the Auction and Real Estate Business very seriously and study every aspect of it that I can."Professionalism and integrity hold the highest priority in my book". "I have done allot of business and have allot of good references because of this."Expert Witness and Testimony
Many times over the years Jim Civis has been summoned to give expert testimony in court or by deposition or recommendation as to the best avenue to liquidate assets in both Real Estate and Chattel Property.
